The Tralee Autism Friendly Town Committee was established to follow the steps set out by the National Autism Advocacy Organisation ASIAM to aspire towards Autism Friendly status for the town of Tralee. The initiative was launched in Tralee in May 2020, to a full audience in the Rose Hotel. The process involves the compiling of a Tralee town audit to include: retailers, hospitality, sport, community & voluntary groups, education and public services. These organisations are invited to undertake Autism friendly training, and an environmental evaluation will be carried out. A 3 year Tralee town plan will be developed. The town will be evaluated by ASIAM for Autism Friendly status following a submission of details on all of the plans and achievements and by a designated percentage of each town audit area, being autism friendly.
